Rise & Remember is a yearly event that exists to remember those who have been lost unjustly and to gather people together to rise to the occasion to pursue racial justice. Our vision is to host an annual global festival that fosters community and builds racial equity.

Angelversary Candlelight Vigil
Wednesday, May 25, 2022 @ George Floyd Square
Join the Caretakers at George Floyd Square for a memorable candlelight vigil to commemorate the 2-year angelversary of George Floyd's death. The event will be held from 8:00-9:00 PM and begin at the Say Their Names Memorial (E 37th Street and Columbus Avenue S). You may bring your own candle. Additional candles will be provided.
Night of Honor: Impacted Families Honoring the Movement

Two years ago on May 26, 2020, the people in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas rose up to protest police violence against Black lives. The people launched the largest protest the world has ever seen. Many protesters, activists, and residents continue to take a stand to support several families who have suffered the trauma of a modern-day lynching of their loved one. This gathering will start at 5:30 PM. Hosted by Families Supporting Families Against Police Violence, it will be a special night to honor the people who have been boots on the ground.

George Floyd Global Memorial Gala

The George Floyd Global Memorial will host its first gala to invite new partners to be in community with us as we trailblaze a new path for remembering our collective stories. Join us at Mill City Museum where "Documenting a Reckoning: The Murder of George Floyd" is currently exhibited. Doors open at 6:00 PM with a book signing of Angela Harrelson's newly published book: "Lift Your Voice." Dinner begins at 7:00 PM with a special GFGM presentation and concert!
Rise & Remember Festival

This event brings together community for live art performances, food, a self-care fair, a kids zone, vendors, and a live concert. This year, the concert will feature the Minnesota Chorale accompanied by a string quartet from the Minnesota Orchestra to perform Joel Thompson’s nationally acclaimed composition “Seven Last Words of the Unarmed.”

RWRP is a collaboration between community members, Racial Agency Initiative, and Northwestern Health Sciences University to respond to trauma that the Twin Cities community experienced after the killing of George Floyd in South Minneapolis. Join Howard University Football and Basketball Coaches and Players at the Kids Sports Zone at Phelps Field Park. This event is designed to bring children from the community and the greater Minneapolis area together to connect with one another while playing sports. We will offer sports programming such as basketball, soccer, football, volleyball, and other fun activities. The event will also provide the children an opportunity to commemorate and celebrate George Floyd’s life. Our hope is that the children will gain important life and wellness skills such as working together in groups and sportsmanship.
